BIO

Jean-Louis Milesi was born in Italy and arrived in France at the age of two months. After finishing nursery school, he dropped out of university after just a few weeks.
This was followed by a string of odd jobs that took him to the heart of a nuclear power station, a desert region on the Iran-Iraq border, and building sites buffeted by the Mistral wind...
He moved to Paris to try his hand at filmmaking and became a screenwriter without really intending to (he just wanted to write his own stories). The films he wrote for Robert Guédiguian enjoyed national and international success (Marius and Jeannette, The City Is Quiet, Marie-Jo and Her Two Loves, The Snows of Kilimanjaro...).
He moved to California for a family project, and this land that trembles shook him to the core. He ended all collaboration with Guédiguian, finished his first novel (Clint Eastwood’s Boots), directed a feature film (Don’t Give Up The Ghost) and wrote the screenplay for the animated film *Josep* for director Aurel. It was the most award-winning film of his career.
Back in France, he wrote a second film for Aurel, *Désert*. And he devoted himself increasingly to writing novels. He published *Au loin, quelques chevaux* and *Deux plumes* with Presses de la Cité and Pocket. And *Flamboyante Zola*, also with Presses de la Cité and Pocket...
